A Week with Grandpa & Grandma

Grant spent last week (July 11 - July 20) with Grandpa & Grandma. Grandma's yard got mowed practically every other day and I think Grandpa was inventing things to keep Grant busy. He also went to the 4-H Fair several days and helped Caleb with his hog and spent a couple of nights with him. We brought Grant home yesterday. He went to bed at 11:00 last night when Brian and I went to bed and I got up at about 2:00 a.m. to get some water and found him on the couch. He is a bit of a sleep walker! I couldn't resist taking his picture. I "woke" him up and sent him back to bed and then had to go and tell him that he was in the wrong room as he was trying to crawl into bed with Chloe!
It is going to be a week of "deprogramming" for both Grant & Shelby since they both were gone last week!! Wish me luck!!

Girl Scout Camp

Shelby just got home from a week at Girl Scout Camp. She had a terrific time.....she is currently asleep in the chair! When we got there to pick her up, she was wearing pants and in the group picture they gave us, she was also wearing pants. I asked her why she was wearing pants....it's only in the 90's and has been all week. She just shrugged her shoulders and so I dropped it. When we got home, I asked why she was wearing pants and she said that she didn't think that I had packed her any shorts. So, she wore pants all week. I'm not sure that I buy that since I packed her clothes in "outfits", but for whatever reason, she wanted to wear pants. I only packed 2 pairs of jeans, so I'm sure they smell nice by now!!! Who can understand a tween girl!

Chloe's 4 year Pictures

I'm a little behind in getting Chloe's 4 year old pictures taken. I took her today to have them done. She did a fantastic job!!! These are my favorites.

These are my not so favorites. I actually would have really liked the one with the fence if she hadn't pulled her hands up at the last minute. I wish the gal would have retaken it. I also like the one of her looking down at the flowers in her hands when it is in black & white.

Vacation at Wisconsin Dells

Where's Lake Delton??? Even though Lake Delton wasn't there, we still had a really good time on vacation. Didn't get to take advantage of the nice beach or the boats at our resort, but we still had a good time. We were glad we made the decision to go ahead and go after Lake Delton drained into the Wisconsin River. We did get some really good deals to go ahead and go, so that made our decision a little bit easier.

The kids really enjoyed the "Ducks". Chloe didn't like it until we went from land into the river and then she unburied her face from my chest and looked over the edge and had a good time. Brian thought that it was because the Duck didn't make as much noise when it was in the water as it did on land. Our Duck broke down though, and "Chesty Puller" (the tow truck Duck) came to haul our Duck away after we had climbed down and reboarded another Duck.

We had quite a "hair raising experience" at the Tommy Bartlett Exploratory. The kids had a lot of fun there. It was kind of like a bigger Science Central and it was air-conditioned...which Brian and I enjoyed!!

Besides the Ducks, one of the things that Grant really wanted to do was go to "Ripley's Believe it or Not". So we did. He loved looking at all the bizarre and creepy things......must be a boy thing!

As part of our "deal" to go ahead with our vacation, we received free tickets to 2 waterparks. This was at Mt. Olympus. Shelby really got into the slides and Brian & Grant spent most of their time in the wave pool and on the lazy rivers. I found an umbrella beside the kiddie area and that is where Chloe and I hung out.
We enjoyed our little cabin at Wisconsin Dells. It probably would have been nicer with a lake beside it, but it was still fun. Shelby said she thought it was the nicest place we had ever stayed and Chloe cried on our way home and kept saying "I want to go back to the porch.....I want to go back to the porch". As for Brian and I, we enjoyed ourselves and were very glad that the kids had a good time. We agreed though that having a kitchen with minimal supplies, only 1 room of the cabin air conditioned, and only 1 TV was as "roughing it" as we are willing to go!

On our way home, we stopped at the House on the Rock. The kids thought this was hysterical that dad got over the edge and is acting like he is hanging onto the side of the "cliff". Great example Brian sets huh!!

Bunny on the run!

Shelby had been wanting to get a harness and leash for her bunny for quite sometime. She finally wore me down and we bought one last night. I think Twilight likes it!!!

Happy 4th Birthday Chloe

Happy 4th Birthday Chloe! I can't believe she is 4 years old today!! Last night, we went over to Matt, Brittney & Skylar's and had supper and I made a Dora cake for her. Today, Grandpa and Grandma came up and we went to Logan's for Dinner and then came back home and opened some presents. I'm going to have a "real" birthday party in July for all three of the kids since their birthdays are June, July & August, but we couldn't let her day go by without celebrating a little bit!!
