Last Day of School!

Today was the last day of school. They had a Culminating Program for the 3rd, 6th and 8th graders. I can't believe that Shelby will be in 4th grade next year and that Grant will be in 7th (or that Chloe will be going to PreSchool)!! After they were finished recognizing the 3rd & 6th graders, they focused on the 8th graders who will be leaving Towles and heading to High School in August. As I sat there and watched, I couldn't believe that in just 2 years, that would be Grant up there. The kids looked and acted so mature (well....at least most of them on the acting part). The 8th graders had planned the whole program and they did a wonderful job. Today, on the last day at our new school, it just made me so glad and thankful that we decided to change schools and that we were lucky enough to get the kids into Towles!!

How Do You Know if the Kids had a Fun Weekend??

. . . . . the trip home!!! This was the scene in the van this evening on our trip home from Grandpa & Grandma's house. No....Shelby is not examining the ceiling of the van....she is out cold. All three kids had a busy weekend, but Shelby had an especially busy one. She started the weekend by going to a Girl Scout lock-in from 7:30 p.m. Friday until 6:30 a.m. Saturday. She said they slept about 2 hours. We picked up Shelby from the Girl Scout office at 6:30 a.m. and then headed for Logansport. Grant went with Caleb and Jim to Indiana Beach for the day and Shelby and Chloe went with Anastasia, Christian, Laura & Branden for the day to Indiana Beach. They rode a lot of rides and had a great day. Laura, Branden, Anastasia, Christian, Shelby, and Chloe got back to Grandpa & Grandma's house at about 5:30 p.m. and then headed out to see The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian (everyone except Chloe....she had spent enough time away from Mom for one day).
Today, Shelby, Chloe and I attended the Mother & Daughter Tea at Grandma's church. It was a fun afternoon. Now were home, baths have been taken, and everyone is in bed!!

Mother's Day Surprise

Today in the mail, I received the nicest Mother's Day surprise. Shelby had made me a 'poster' using my name and then with a word describing me after each letter (I'm not sure I'd ever describe myself as "elegant", but it is nice that Shelby thinks so...or maybe that is the only "E" word she could think of). She also had made me a very nice card. She wrote inside "thanks for loving me"......it brought tears to my eyes! Also, what a nice thing for Shelby's teacher to do to have the children make Mother's Day gifts and then mail them out.
Mom's are just like kids and like to get mail too...besides bills!! It was very thoughtful!

PreSchool Orientation

How is it possible that my 'baby' is ready to start PreSchool already?? We went to Orientation today. Each child had a name tag that was some sort of animal (Chloe's was a bear) and then they were to go with the teacher that had the same name tag on. I wasn't sure how she was going to do because once we got to the school and into the cafeteria, she became extremely clingy. When it was her time to go though, she marched right out with the rest of the kids. Brian was late getting there (surprise, surprise) and passed Chloe and her group in the hallway and he said that she said, "Hi Daddy" and down the hall she went. When I went to pick her up from the classroom at the end, she was very excited to show me how she was sitting "on the line" just like Shelby does at her school. She also showed me various things in the classroom. The teacher said that when it came time for their ride on the school bus, Chloe started to cry and said that she was scared. The teacher said that she picked her up and carried her onto the bus and was holding her on her lap. Once the bus started to roll, Chloe said that she wanted to sit on the seat and that she was fine from then on. Hopefully she is ready to ride the bus come August because if she starts to cry, I may not be able to put her on the bus!!

Picnic Lunch with Barack Obama

Brian spent Sunday afternoon having lunch with Barack Obama at Headwater's Park. Well, he didn't really get to 'have lunch' with Barack Obama......Obama just provided the lunch. Brian didn't get to shake Barack's hand, but he did shake his wife, Michelle's hand and said a few words to her.

Thanks Grandpa!!!

Meet the newest member of our family....Twilight. We went to Grandpa and Grandma's house today to celebrate Grandpa's birthday and came home with a bunny!! Grandpa had brought 4 bunnies home from the Sale Barn.....why??...we're not sure. Shelby wanted to adopt this bunny so much. Brian said that he would be the "bad guy".....well, I overheard him being the "bad guy" when Shelby was working him over....telling him it was 'love at first sight' and she already loved the bunny so much. Then he said, "go talk to your mom". So much for being the bad guy!! So....now we have a bunny!

What a BEAUTIFUL day!!!

It is just a gorgeous day outside today!!! Chloe and Skylar were having so much fun playing, we decided to have a 'picnic lunch' today! As soon as they were finished eating, they took off to play some more before nap time! I guess we'd better soak up the nice weather while we can.....it's supposed to go back down into the 40's next week.....yuck!
