Chloe the Chef!

Chloe went with Aunt Deb today to Country Kitchen for their Valentine's Treat class. She always has the best time with Aunt Deb. They decorated a cupcake, a cookie and made the chocolate mousse that she is holding in this picture. You probably can't tell, but the little chocolate that is sticking up out of the mousse is a chocolate moose. She is very proud of it if you can't tell!!

Learning Fair
The kid's had a Learning Fair at their school last night. They did this instead of a Science Fair so that the kids could choose whatever kind of project they wanted to do. Shelby is in Chimes and they performed. She was quite nervous about it. Grant is in percussion and they also performed. One of his fellow percussionists didn't show up, so Mrs. Bishop, their instructor had to step in a play with them. Shelby and 2 of her friends also performed a play in their classroom. It was quite funny. It was a very fun and informative evening!

FWCS School Choice Fair

Today we attended the Fort Wayne Community Schools Choice Fair. We still have another year before we have to make the decision as to where Grant will attend High School. Grant thought it was totally ridiculous that he was MADE to attend. It is a free country after all. He forgets that he still lives in the land where Brian & Pam rule! Anyway.....in the end, Grant was glad that he went (I think). We came away with a much clearer view of what each High School has to offer. We think that we have made a decision, but again, we still have another year.

Mark Twain Tonight!

Brian and I just got back from seeing Hal Holbrook in his award winning performance of "Mark Twain Tonight!" I'm very glad we went. It was a free performance at IPFW as part of their Omnibus Lecture Series. The Rhineart Music Center on IPFW's campus holds 1600 people and they had to shut the doors and turn people away tonight. I'm glad that we left early and arrived an hour before the scheduled start of the program!

The Remnant Trust
On Saturday morning we went to the Helmke Library at IPFW and visited The Remnant Trust. It is a traveling display of original and first edition books and documents with some pieces dating back as early as 1250. Sounds like a great time doesn't it!! I went........dragging my feet the whole way, but it actually was quite neat. Shelby and Chloe both placed their hand on a 3rd printing of The Declaration of Independence that was believed to have been owned by Benjamin Franklin. When the IPFW student volunteer came over and asked me if I wanted her to open the case so we could touch it, I said, "NO.....that's OK". Then the Librarian came over and insisted that the girls had to touch it. Then when they talk about in school, they could say that they touched it. I was running through my mind.....did Chloe eat anything on the way here......what could possibly be on her fingers. They didn't seem to worry about it. I guess that is the whole point of this display. To let people touch and feel history.
